Trend Watch 2018: Mixing Materials
The use of wooden textures proved popular in 2017 and is a trend continuing in 2018 – but with a twist. We’ve seen an evolution of this trend into mixing organic materials, such as wood with stone or brass. We love the wooden trend because it carries a connection to nature, enabling us to create a calming retreat for a time when we get to experience so little of the outdoors.
Contrasting organic textures creates a wonderful juxtaposition; cold concrete countertops with warm brass taps, polished marble basins sitting on rustic wooden furniture. This trend also extends into mixing metals, such as brass mirrors with chrome taps or metallic basins with mirrored tiles.
This method of design creates an interesting and eclectic mix. With many people improving rather than moving, gone are the days of a standard one fits all bathroom; instead there is an increase in personalisation, creating a demand for bold brassware and products to pack a punch.
The dynamic design shown here is a perfect example; the carved Tuscany counter shelves work perfectly with the oriental style textured Rangoon basins – just one of the many statement sinks on offer from BAGNODESIGN. The grand, tall Brass Art mirrors offer a warm contrast to the Chrome Liberty mixers from Nicolazzi, a luxury Italian manufacturer of brassware exclusive to BAGNODESIGN.
