Deirdre Dyson’s UNRAVEL carpet at the Hyatt Andaz Hotel, Liverpool Street

Sir Terence Conran is the latest designer to create a hotel suite in collaboration with the AIDS charity (RED). The charity was founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver and has raised over $500 million dollars through collaborations with brands as diverse as Vespa, Alessi, Apple and the Andaz chain of hotels.

The first suite the hotel and charity collaborated on was designed by Jonathan Adler for the Andaz West Hollywood and has proved such a success that the collaboration has extended to London.  Sir Terence, founder of Conran + Partners, curated the suite and has referenced the colour red throughout,  personally selecting Deirdre Dyson’s UNRAVEL rug as a key part of the scheme.

UNRAVEL is a striking design, handknotted in a wool and silk mix , with strong elements of the colour, grading from dark to light.

The rug is in good company with a number of Conran classics being included in the design – such as the Snoopy lamp, a Volta mobile, Eames elephant and Lumio book lamps.  All products are available from The Conran Shop, as well as other custom pieces.

(RED) will benefit directly from receiving a portion of each booking for this room as well as partner products within the design being available to purchase.

Sir Terence says of the project:

The Great Eastern Hotel, as this hotel was once known, was my first big hotel project, so it has been a dream for me to be involved with the building once again,” … “I am proud to have collaborated with the Andaz brand and (RED) on a suite design that will give guests a great deal of pleasure while doing a great deal of good in the world. Through carefully curated and commissioned artwork and photography by local artists, we injected the vibrant and creative vibe of East London into the suite and mixed in contemporary hotel design with a domestic feel.
