Chinoiserie Splendour At Guinevere

Guinevere Antiques delights the crowds at London Design Festival this year with a specially curated exhibition exploring the development of chinoiserie.

Head in to the Aladdins cave that is Guinevere Antiques and uncover an extraordinary and fascinating display of chinoiserie.  From exotic birds to flowing water and delicate oriental plants and flowers, come and marvel at the details of this design and see why, since the 17^th Century, it has been so popular in England.  Originally imported from China and Japan, as demand grew the style was adopted by European makers of furniture, wallpapers, decorative accessories and ceramics.

Guinevere have assembled, especially for London Design Festival, an exhibition of antique Asian and European chinoiserie which demonstrates the history of the design and Guinevere’s philosophy of creating drama through quantity and repetition.  Wander through the showroom as chinoiserie pieces are placed in contemporary interiors, complemented by unique hand painted chinoiserie panels from wallpaper specialist de Gournay.

Explore the history of chinoiserie design in all its magnificence at this unique exhibition on throughout the festival, 16^th to 24^th September.  Please note that the showroom is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm.
