Chelsea Design Quarter at Holiday House London

Chelsea Design Quarter members have been delighted to participate and support the inaugural year of Holiday House London.  Founded in New York in 2008 by interior designer and breast cancer survivor Iris Danker, Holiday House celebrates its 10th year of raising money for breast cancer research.  To date the interior design showcase event has raised over $1 million for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Taking place across two houses on Hamilton Terrace in North London the amazing installation has rooms designed by highly esteemed designers such as Nina Campbell and Justin van Breda, Studio QD in collaboration with Nicky Haslam, Turner Pocock, Roselind Wilson, Shalini Misra and Patrik Lonn Designs to name a few.

Waterworks are a key sponsor for the installation and hosted the kick-off party in September which was attended by a number of the designers, sponsors and supporters.   They have also provided a selection of accessories from their collection for the powder rooms.

Crucial Trading have installed their award winning Fabulous Diamond design as a runner into one of the houses and have also provided a bespoke Oregon Stripe wool rug featuring a cotton herringbone border in Peat into Roselind Wilson’s striking bedroom which uses Farrow & Ball’s Hague Blue and Calamine to maximum effect.  As were Tom Faulkner’s Balzac side tables.

One of the most eye-catching rooms is The Master Bedroom designed by Studio QD in collaboration with Nicky Haslam.  Featuring a tromp l’oeil wall decor the room also has the stunning “Because I Can” designed by Tatiana Tafur and some sumptuous furniture upholstered in velvet by Talisman London.

Patrik Lonn Design has created a remarkable gentleman’s study which includes some oversized convex mirrors from Charles Edwards and one of their round mesh wastepaper baskets.

In Turner Pocock’s ‘Guest Room’ The Rug Company made a custom Bridge rug to work with the custom coloured Carnival wallpaper by Christopher Farr.

Rachel Laxer put together an effortlessly cool dining room, at the centre of which was Tom Faulkner’s bespoke Avebury dining table finished in Metallic Stone with a smoked grey glass top along with two mirrors in the same finish and two hand-polished stainless steel Capricorn plinths.

Shalini Misra’s stunning Master Bedroom with walk-in wardrobe incorporates Tom Faulkner’s Lily cocktail tables in the main bedroom and The Rug Company’s Empire runner by Tim Gosling is used to great effect in the walk-in wardrobe.

John Cullen advised JKG Interiors on the lighting design for their elegantly moody scheme and provided some amazing directional lighting for the installation.

Justin Van Breda and Nina Campbell have collaborated on the bright and eye catching LES RÊVES dining room, which makes full use of her fabric collections and his newly launched furniture designs.  Helping to dress the dining table are some fabulous pieces from Guinevere’s treasure trove including a Large Diamond cut glass vase, some Baccarat decanters, Murano glass shell shaped dish and a French silver plated wirework wine bottle.

Holiday House London continues until 10th December, it is well worth a visit to see all of these incredible rooms in one place.  Tickets available here.
